Rachel Whiteread
I have admired Rachel's work since I was at Art College and still have the book of her work I bought at a book sale at Camberwell in the 90's. She was the first female winner of the Turner Prize in 1993. She won with a piece titled "House" which was the internal casting of a three story house and was situated around the corner from where I lived at the time, I remember driving passed it on the 277 bus on my way to school in the mornings. I have always found her approach and work an inspiration, in particular her focused attention to small domestic details.
